Victoria Cross Heroes

Channel 5's tribute for the 150th Anniversary of the Victoria Cross was a three part series. The second part, on The Great War, was filmed at our Trench Location in Suffolk and we were asked to supply uniforms, equipment, weapons, specialist extras, locations and props for the shoot.

Costume and Props:

Khaki Devil provided the uniform, equipment, weaponry and many of the props for the stories of these Great War VC winners; Lt Dease and Pte Godley of the Royal Fusiliers, Sailor Jack Cornwell, Lt Jackie Smythe of the 15th Sikhs, Pilot Leefe-Robertson, Australian Albert Jacka, and double VC winner Noel Chavasse to name just a few.

We provided most of the uniforms, equipment and props for the Second World War and Post-war VC winners including RAF pilots, Gurkhas and Falklands War men of 3 Para.

Throughout the project we were able to help Costume Designer Jane Stuart-Brown answer many awkward questions about uniforms of the two World Wars.

Specialist Extras:

We provided many specialist extras too at our location and also in Somerset for the Godley/Dease reconstruction at the West Somerset Light Railway. Many were members of The Khaki Chums.
