Vera Brittain
For Remembrance Sunday 2008 BBC1 broadcast this excellent documentary on the Great War experiences of Vera Brittain; a Great War VAD nurse and author of Testament of Youth.
Presented by Jo Brand, the programme followed Vera's war via historical reconstructions and interviews with various experts on aspects of her life.
Historical Advice:
Taff was able to give a great deal of help and military historical advice to the production company both with the script and the reconstructions; most of which were shot at our location in Suffolk.
Locations:
Our site in Suffolk was used for much of the reconstruction and we created Military Hospitals (below) for several scenes.
Costume and Props:
Khaki Devil made the nurses uniforms for Vera and her fellow nurses. we also provided the military uniforms, equipment, weaponry for the reconstructions. We also supplied most of the military props and the hospital beds and stretchers.
Specialist Extras:
We provided the cast for the reconstructions including two nurses; all the men featured were members of The Khaki Chums and, as usual, a very high standard was achieved.
