Timewatch:
Unknown Soldiers
This two-part documentary was produced by BBC2 to tell the story of the American organisation responsible for the recovery and identification of US Soldiers killed in conflicts across the globe.
The series followed the story of several soldiers but, the particular ones we were able to help them with, were killed during the last year of The First World War.
Location:
We were able to use our ten-acre Great War Battlefield for most of the scenes of the men in the front line and many farm buildings on site were pressed into service for rest billets, etc.
Costume and Props:
Khaki Devil provided some of the uniform, equipment, and weaponry. We also supplied many of the props and much of the equipment.
Specialist Extras:
We provided all the cast too. As usual, some of the men featured were members of The Khaki Chums but, as this programme featured American Great War soldiers we called in the experts at reconstructing American soldiers of this time; the living history group, Pershing's Doughboys. The Doughboys were able to supply many items of uniforms, equipment and weapons which were particular to the American Army of the time and trained the members of The Chums in US drill of the period.
