Richard III
Directors are always experimenting with different settings for Shakespeare. Over the years plenty have staged productions in military costume from many different eras. From Orson Welles' 1939 production of Julius Caesar in Nazi uniforms, to a recent New York version of Henry V dressed as modern day soldiers, where the characters switched quickly between nice suits, combat fatigues and formal military uniforms, depending on the scene. The weaponry included handguns - a far cry from the primitive armaments of Shakespeare's day. Khaki Devil were privilidged to supply Great War uniforms, equipment, weapons and props for a production of Troilus and Cressida at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
We are well equipped to assist with productions from 1899 to the present and had great pleasure in providing Great War uniforms for the casting of Sudbury Dramatic Society's Richard III at the Quay Theatre.
So please talk to us whichever of the Bard's epics you are thinking about (Tatiana dressed as a WW2 ATS girl perhaps after all, if the ATS was good enough for our own Queen why not a Fairy Queen?!)
