Hovis TV Advertisement

This television advertisement, directed by Sir Ridley Scott, is the longest in British television history at 112 seconds; one second for every year that Hovis had been in production.

The concept is a young lad collecting a loaf of bread in 1890 and running home through the century, passing many major historical events along the way.

Khaki Devil were asked to help create the First World War scene. This involved the young lad breaking through a group of protesting Suffragettes and catching up with a column of British soldiers off to France in 1914,

We were responsible for providng over 200 soldiers with all the uniforms, equipment and weapons correct for the time. All the men were badged as The West Yorkshire Regiment and were trained to march in Fours exactly as they would have done in 1914.

Khaki Devil also took on the task of managing the transport for the shoot to make sure that all those taking part, from all over the country, were able to get to the location in Liverpool, with all their kit, on time and training them all to march together in Fours as they would have done at the time.
