Journey's End

- Broadway -

This well known production of R.C.Sherriff's play, about a group of British Officers in a dugout just before the opening of the German March Offensive of 1918, was revived by Director David Grindley at The Comedy Theatre in January 2004 - 75 years after Sherriff's original production. The production was a great success and, in 2007, the show opened on Broadway courtesy of Alan Wasser Productions.

All those who worked on the 2004 West End production were asked to help out again and, as before, Khaki Devil worked closely with them to get the uniforms and equipment as accurate for March 1918 as possible.

The production was not a financial success but it was an award winning show, winning a TONY for best Revival (play) and also nominated for Best Leading Actor, Best Featured Actor, Best Scenic Design and Best Direction.

Alan Wasser productions deserve a great deal of praise for their faith in this very British play. This is what the theatre critic of The New York Times had to say.

Costume and Props:

Khaki Devil provided most of the uniform, equipment and many props for the production. This included all the British Officers who were correctly badged as men of the 9th (Service) Battalion, The East Surrey Regiment, 72 Brigade, 24 Division, as they would have been in March 1918.
