Battlefields - Cassino

With less than three days before filming was due to commence in Italy we were asked to produce an exact scale replica of a German Schu Mine for Professor Holmes to hold.
These were small anti-personel mines. Made out of wood, they were extremely difficult to detect.
We called on our cabinet maker to produce the outer case to the exact specification and Kev Smith made an exact replica of the detonator mechanism which 'fired' when the lid was pushed shut and the spring clip released. The whole thing was finished off with copies of the original German labels and weathered to look 60 years old.
